Summary

The Australian Government is holding the Australia 2020 Summit at Parliament House on 17 April 2008. One thousand Australians have been invited to help with a long term strategy for the Australia's future.

How can ICT be used to help with an economically and environmentally sustainable future, in the face of falling stock markets and rising sea levels?

About the Speaker

Tom Worthington is Chair of the ACS Green ICT Sig. He recently presented on Carbon Neutral Computing in the ACS Education Across the Nation series and co-chaired the Open 2020 Summit (one of the Australian Government's local 2020 Summites).

Tom is a consulting ICT professional, to government and industry. He has been an expert witness in several court cases involving international patent, computer, web and Internet issues. Tom is a Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at the Australian National University, where he teaches the design of web sites, e-commerce and professional ethics. In 1999 he was elected a Fellow of the Australian Computer Society for his contribution to the development of public Internet policy.

Tom is a past president, Fellow and Honorary Life Member of the Australian Computer Society, a voting member of the Association for Computing Machinery and a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
